7 hospitals in our city.
1. AIIMS Patna
This one’s huge. Over 1,300 beds. Teaching hospital vibe. Government-backed. Super‑specialities in every field—cardiology, neurology, oncology. Serious doctors doing serious research. It feels formal. But it’s also chaotic. In a good way. ([Paras Hospitals][1], [My Hospital Now][2])
2. IGIMS (Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences)
State-run, since 1983. It’s the superspecialist king of Bihar. 1,070 beds. Big emergency. Cardio, gastro, neuro—you name it. Recent upgrade: 24‑hour eye emergency services, fancy OT, robotic surgery coming soon. Busy place. ([My Hospital Now][2])
3. PMCH (Patna Medical College & Hospital)
Ancient. From 1925. Massive. Nearly 1,750 beds, soon to be 5,462—that’s insane! Old‑school corridors. Crowds everywhere. But trust me, they know their stuff.
4. Paras HMRI Hospital
Private. 350 beds. Feel‑good vibes. NADH‑accredited, fancy labs, robotic surgeries. Oncology, cardio, neuro, ortho—it’s all here. Patients say clean, modern, and friendly. ([fordhospital.org][3])
5. Ford Hospital & Research Centre
Small, compact—105 beds. But super efficient. NABH‑accredited. The fastest cardiac emergency response, cath labs, trauma center. Khemnichak bypass location. One of the best for heart cases. ([Wikipedia][4])
6. Nalanda Medical College & Hospital (NMCH)
Government-run. Around 876 beds across 100 acres. Just added a 100‑bed medicine ward. Big OPD. Main facility for rural & urban alike. ([The Times of India][5])
7. Ruban Memorial Hospital
Private. About 450 beds. Kidneys, cancer, hearts—they do all. They’ve been quietly building up oncology and cardiac wings. Solid option. ([satyadevurology.com][6])
I visited AIIMS once. Smelled antiseptic. Heard doctors talking in jargon. Felt both comfort and stress.
Then I went to IGIMS—bright corridors, robotic equipment being installed. Felt hope.
Ford felt different. Smaller. Personal. The staff knew my name…well, almost. Felt like local heroes.
Paras? Glossy brochures. Friendly faces. Felt reassuring.
PMCH? Pure real life. Ambulances, rush, story after story. You can’t fake that energy.
NMCH—calm. Rural folks waiting patiently. Serene, efficient.
Ruban—comfortable private rooms. Quiet, but you know, doing heavy‑duty stuff behind the scenes.
